Why I chose Temple and the DBMD Program
Temple’s diversity and the great reputation of its Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Master’s Program make it perfect for me. I always dreamt about pursuing my master’s in the U.S.

What Temple taught me
When I first came here, I wasn’t confident. The constant encouragement and compliments I received from my professors and friends improved my confidence. And, I’ve never been more proud of my Chinese identity.

My advice
Because you’ll be pursuing a bachelor’s and master’s degree at the same time, be fully prepared to manage your time well. Perform as much work as you can ahead. And talk with your professors, advisors and friends.

What surprised me
Americans’ friendliness and willingness to help others surprised me the most. Daily I receive big smiles, warm greetings and help from strangers. This kind of goodness is contagious and leads me to act the same.

How Temple differs from my home university
Temple is more diverse and Temple professors not only excel in research, but they are especially dedicated to their students.

Future
I would like to stay in the U.S. for another year after I graduate to teach English as a Second Language (ESL). And I may pursue my Ph.D. in the U.S. and go back to China to teach at a university.

Favorite Philadelphia activity
There are many ice-skating rinks in Philly in winter. Last winter I learned how to ice skate. After countless falls I’m pretty good at it. It’s awesome!

Favorite Temple food and activity
I love Temple’s food trucks for their tasty cheap food. I recommend Philly’s cheese steak and burgers. My favorite activity is the Global Temple Conference, in which various cultures are explored from different perspectives. I had the honor to present a poster in this great event and it was one of my best experiences.
