Shih-Hui Chuang is a first year graduate student in Temple University’s Dual Bachelor’s Master’s Degree (DBMD) Program, who plans to graduate in May 2012. Financial management was her undergraduate major at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan and as a graduate student she studies accounting and finance in the Fox School of Business and Management.

When asked about the best aspects of Temple’s DBMD program, Shih-Hui said, “DBMD offers an excellent opportunity for students to study abroad while speeding up the academic process. The international services are impeccable and the advisors strive to make the transition as easy as possible.”

“Meeting American students is a special experience for me and I can also tell the Temple students enjoy working together with international students. This combination produces a global perspective, which then infiltrates the classroom and becomes apparent all over campus. Temple is making giant strides in international education and I’m glad I can say I was a part of it,” says Shih-Hui.

Temple University provides many opportunities for students to get involved. “I have a part-time job as a mailroom attendant in the residence hall. This position gives me a chance to practice my English and interact with many different people,” explains Shih-Hui. She also belongs to the Taiwanese Student Association at Temple and was very complimentary of the events TSA coordinates for its members. She recalled, “One of the highlights of my year was performing a song and dance routine along with other international students for the Chinese New Year celebration in Chinatown.”

At National Sun Yat-Sen University, Shih-Hui played competitive badminton. She participated in a badminton tournament held at Drexel University this past year. “Badminton is a good way for me to meet more people outside of Temple who have a common interest in sports,” says Shih-Hui.

This summer Shih-Hui hopes to find an internship in finance or accounting, but if not she will go back to Taiwan for a couple of months and travel before returning back to the United States for her final year of graduate school. She has already traveled a few places in the U.S. including New York City, Cornell University in northern New York and Atlanta, GA. Shih-Hui plans to find a job in the United States after she graduates.
